Pure Red Line Caridina shrimp (Caridina cantonensis var. “Pure Red Line” or “PRL”) are a premium, selectively bred lineage of crystal-type dwarf shrimp, celebrated for their intense, candy-cane-like pattern of vivid scarlet-red stripes and crisp, pure white bands that deliver a bold, high-contrast pop to freshwater aquariums, especially in planted setups.

Top-grade Pure Red Line specimens showcase thick, opaque white sections—including solid white shells, clean white legs (or striking “spider” legs), and broad, well-defined white bands—with deep, saturated red markings that appear almost blood-red or glowing under aquarium lighting. Pure Red Line shrimp are intermediate-level keepers, requiring stable, soft, acidic freshwater parameters (pH 6.0–6.4, low GH/KH, TDS ~120–150) and sensitive to fluctuations, making them best suited for mature, biologically stable setups with RO remineralized water, active substrate, Indian almond leaves or botanicals for buffering, and abundant hiding spots like plants, cholla, or shrimp tubes to promote security and breeding success. They’re prolific in the right environment, with colonies expanding steadily when stress is minimized.
